I was given a bunch of Andrew Sisters, and while some stuff is really square (the polka-influenced cuts), and some stuff is just not PC (the WWII stuff is not that appropriate IMHO), they have some awesome sexy songs. I particularly like their versions of Tuxedo Junction and Your Red Wagon.JesseMiner wrote:I'm actually in the progress of putting together an Andrews Sisters compilation just in case).

and to answer the original question, I still have a small enough collection that I'm working on building up tunes that I know people want to dance to.
I don't have very much Rock 'n Roll just because we have a good rockabilly scene here and there doesn't seem to be much interest at swing dances for people to dance to rock songs.

I also played a version of "Song of the Volga Boatmen" that always garners many questions.

The only Glenn Miller album I bought [Glenn Miller Gold - $5] had this song on it; it's the only track I kept in my book, the rest were too ricky-ticky.GuruReuben wrote:I also played a version of "Song of the Volga Boatmen" that always garners many questions.
That's one thing I like about this board; at some point I'm actually going to get Spirit is Willing, which has Glen Island Special on it, based on all the good feedback here about that album.

Yes, that song is one of the few good Glenn Miller songs I am proud to have in my collection. I played it once and someone didn't believe me when I told them it was Glenn Miller.julius wrote:at the bal champs reuben played "Glen Island Special" and it was smokin. now i want it.
As per the question...I don't really exclude to much, but I am selective in what I buy
