Here are the easy ones:

1. The tune is "Blue Lou" but I don't think it's Goodman
2. "Savoy" - Lucky Millinder
3. "Softly as in a Morning Sunrise" - Artie Shaw (much faster than usual)
4. "Undecided" not sure of the artist
5. "Lindyhopper's Delight" - Chick Webb
6. "Big John's Special" - Mills Blue Rhythm Band
7. "Joshua fit de Battle of Jericho" - Kid Ory
8. "Diga Diga Do" - Artie Shaw
10. "Ridin' a Riff" - Earl Hines

That leaves artists for 1 & 4 and tunes + artists for 9, 11, & 12.

#9 is "Rachin' in Rhythm" by Crytzer's Blue Rhythm Band
#11 is "Riverboat Shuffle" by Muggsy Spanier
#12 is "Squatty Roo" by Duke Ellington/Johnny Hodges

#1 and #4 are both by Ella Fitzgerald live at the Savoy, 1939 and 1940 respectively.

Don't worry, one day there will come a time when you can name off all these song by ear. These are all essentially standards to many a swing DJ... especially when it comes to contest music.

for the Ella tracks with Chick webb, I have searched tirelessly for the tracks sans ella singing, i prefer the instrumentals...but im findingjust the instrumentals incredibly hard to find, can anyone offer any suggestions?

One of my favorite instrumental versions of Blue Lou is by the Metronome All Stars - it is a staple in my competition music bag. Check it out.

Just to make this clear: The Ella live at Savoy 1939-1940 CD is actually all instrumentals - Ella was leading the band at the time and can be heard shouting in the background now and then, but she's not singing. It's a great album - highly recommended.

i saw a youtube video for that song, its a great copy but yet again almost impossible to find....how do u guys find all these musics, u all have the old records? im in Korea, so the chance of me finding any records around here are near zero if not zero...

Hey guys, i wanted to know if you guys could name that specific version of Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho. I found this Sidney Bechet version which is incredible but now i would like to start listening to this version but I cannot find it. It doesn't seem to be Kid Ory.... any help?

There's more than one Kid Ory version - I think it's the one from Live At The Beverly Craven
