As I wrote once before, these SONY MUSIC SPECIAL PRODUCTS CDs are riddled with alternate takes.
Liner notes - none
Excellent CD with great sound with three to four alternate takes and a few limited release items.
1. Down, Down, Down (What a Song!) - Helen Forrest, Benny Goodman & His Orchestra - alternate take - trumpet screw up right at the end.
2. Roll 'Em - Harry James & His Orchestra - superb and a trifle slower than usual, rockin' in a solid groove, 40s or earlier 50s.
3. Caldonia - Woody Herman - alternate take with several different solos.
4. Bounce Me Brother With a Solid Four - Will Bradley, Ray McKinley - possible alternate, but I don't know the original that well.
5. Ooh-Dahdily-Dah - Louis Prima & His Band, Keely Smith - based on a riff from OOCJump - Prima BIG BAND!
6. Three to Get Ready - Les Elgart - not bad for a 50s band - these guys were really popular.
7. Watch the Birdie - Gene Krupa, Gene Krupa, Anita O'Day - possible alternate
8. Leap Frog - Les Brown - good jumping tune
9. Like the Moon Above You - Harry James & His Orchestra, Kitty Kallen - not bad, middle tempo
10. Boo-Wah Boo-Wah - Cab Calloway - pretty sure this is an alternate, both Chu and Dizzy sound different from the take I grew up on.
