Does anybody know in what year [...] was recorded?

Milneburg Joys - I Ain't Gonna Give Nobody None of My Jelly Roll
This one is from Traditional Jazz: The Language of New Orleans Vol. 4 i now remember. I'll have to walk over to the town library tomorrow and read the liner notes... It's my fave version of the song.

anton wrote:Inspired by the post that talked about djing sets in chronological order I'm trying to fix the year tags in my mp3 collection. It's a bit tricky with all the downloads from e-music that do not give you the recording data. Google and The JAZZ Discography by Tom Lord are of great help but there are still a few I cannot figure out. So, does anybody know in what year the following were recorded:

Ken 'Snakehips' Johnson - Tuxedo Junction (1938-1940?)
Tuxedo Junction (Hawkins, Johnson, Dash, Feyne) (2'58")
Performed by Ken 'Snakehips' Johnson and his West Indian Dance Orchestra
Recorded 27 February 1940, London

Thanks! I see that my old CD ROM of the Jazz Discography does not cover as much as the online version.

I have that info on that recording of Tuxedo Junction in the liner notes of the CD titled "Black British Swing" which coincidentally just arrived in the mail from the UK yesterday.

No it wasn't - but thanks anyway! It turns out that e-music had misnamed the group on those albums. The group is in fact The Kings of Dixieland (all of their recordings seem to be available on e-music). They recorded in LA between 1959 and 1962. Royal Garden Blues is from 1959:

Kings of Dixieland, Volume 2: Dick Cathcart (tp) Moe Schneider (tb) Heinie Beau (cl) Eddie Miller (ts) Ray Sherman (p) George Van Eps (g) Red Callender (b,tu) Nick Fatool (d). Los Angeles, July 25, 1959. Nice lineup!
