Colour me impressed - I'd all but forgotten about this one. From what you say, I think it's certainly the track, although I don't remember it well enough to be sure from just that snippet. I'll know for sure when the CD arrives (and no - I didn't order it from Amazon) Thanks for digging that out!Haydn wrote: Just coming back to this, I think it's from a CD called The Radio Years, 1940 by Gene Krupa And His Orchestra.
The track listing on allmusic is wrong, In The Mood is Track 17. See the listing on Amazon for the correct track listing and some reviews
Who plays Glenn Miller's 'In The Mood'?

Glenn and the boys get everyone 'In The Mood' in This Film Clip
Here are some lyrics.
Apparently these are to the Glenn Miller version (although I can't remember having heard them sung, as it's almost always an instrumental) -
Who's the lovin' daddy with the beautiful eyes
What a pair o' lips, I'd like to try 'em for size
I'll just tell him, "Baby, won't you swing it with me"
Hope he tells me maybe, what a wing it will be
So, I said politely "Darlin' may I intrude"
He said "Don't keep me waitin' when I'm in the mood"
First I held him lightly and we started to dance
Then I held him tightly what a dreamy romance
And I said "Hey, baby, it's a quarter to three
There's a mess of moonlight, won't-cha share it with me"
"Well" he answered "Baby, don't-cha know that it's rude
To keep my two lips waitin' when they're in the mood"
In the mood, that's what he told me
In the mood, and when he told me
In the mood, my heart was skippin'
It didn't take me long to say "I'm in the mood now"
In the mood for all his kissin'
In the mood his crazy lovin'
In the mood what I was missin'
It didn't take me long to say "I'm in the mood now"
So, I said politely "Darlin' may I intrude"
He said "Don't keep me waitin' when I'm in the mood"
"Well" he answered "Baby, don't-cha know that it's rude
To keep my two lips waitin' when they're in the mood"

The Andrews Sisters had their own, simpler lyrics:
In The Mood
By The Andrews Sisters
Mr. Whatchacallim, whatcha doin tonight?
Hope youre in the mood, because Im feelin just right!
Hows about a corner with a table for two?
Where the musics mellow and some gay rendezvous!
Theres no chance romancin with a blue attitude!
Youve got to do some dancin to get in the mood!
Sister Whatchacallim thats a timely idea!
Something swing-a-dilla would be good to my ear!
Everybody must agree that dancin has charms,
When you have that certain one you love in your arms!
Steppin out with you will be a sweet interlude!
Oh builder up for that would put me in the mood!
In the mood!
Thats it!
I got it!
In the mood!
Your ear will spot it!
In the mood!
Oh what a hot hit!
Be alive
And get the jive,
Youve got to learn how!
Hep-hep-hep!
Hep like a hepper!
Pep-pep-pep!
Hot as a pepper!
Step-step-step!
Step like a stepper!
From muggin to huggin
Were in the mood now!
Mr. Watchacallim, All you needed was fun!
You can see the wonders that this evening has done!
Your feet were so heavy, till they hardly could move!
Now theyre light as feathers and youre right in the groove!
You were only hungry for some musical food!
Youre positively absolutely in the mood!
Sister watchacallim, Im indebted to you!
It all goes to show what good a new hit could do!
Never felt so happy and so fully alive!
It seems that jammin jumpin is a powerful jive!
Swing-a-roo has given me a new attitude!
My heart is full of rhythm and Im in the mood!
In the mood!
Thats it!
Cause I got it!
And Im
In the mood!
Your ear will spot

Never were very good lyrics.
But the THE KING SISTERS were the first to record it after the GM version hit, IIRC.

This was a very good LP with great sound quality. He has an "ITM" on there and you can download the entire album which for some reason I cannot b/c REAL PLAYER and WINDOWS MEDIA cant open it due to the extension or lack of some CODEC application.

Will big bands ever come back?
Quite impressive showmanship - you can tell that Miller was a huge fan of the Lunceford band.Haydn wrote:Glenn and the boys get everyone 'In The Mood' in This Film Clip
By the way, that ITM clip is from Sun Valley Serenade - dreadful movie but well worth having just for the Nicholas Brothers in Chattanooga Choo Choo.
It's not a "dreadful movie".J-h:n wrote: By the way, that ITM clip is from Sun Valley Serenade - dreadful movie ....

It's extremely entertaining.

Hmm, the files work just fine for me. Spent a few minutes in audacity to break the songs up into individual files and clip out some of the dead space (ok more than a few minutes, I have a slow computer).Eyeball wrote:This was a very good LP with great sound quality. Let me know how you like them.
That album was all the rage amongst audiophiles and big band fans when it came out circa 1970. None of the tracks are bad and some are very good. Superb ensemble work and British style solos. No vocals.
Ya know - good changes of pace from the originals. Their 2 O'clock Jump is pretty good.
Volume Two was not as good.
I still have this on LP and reel-to-reel tape!

Dorothy Dandridge steals the show in that sceneJ-h:n wrote:Quite impressive showmanship - you can tell that Miller was a huge fan of the Lunceford band.Haydn wrote:Glenn and the boys get everyone 'In The Mood' in This Film Clip

If you like endless ski chases, sure. Or Sonja Henie.Eyeball wrote:It's not a "dreadful movie".J-h:n wrote: By the way, that ITM clip is from Sun Valley Serenade - dreadful movie ....![]()

You don't get to hear Sun Valley Jump (one of the better Glenn Miller tunes IMO) in the movie, though.
