Colour me impressed - I'd all but forgotten about this one. From what you say, I think it's certainly the track, although I don't remember it well enough to be sure from just that snippet. I'll know for sure when the CD arrives (and no - I didn't order it from Amazon) Thanks for digging that out!

Apparently these are to the Glenn Miller version (although I can't remember having heard them sung, as it's almost always an instrumental) -

Never were very good lyrics.

But the THE KING SISTERS were the first to record it after the GM version hit, IIRC.

This was a very good LP with great sound quality. He has an "ITM" on there and you can download the entire album which for some reason I cannot b/c REAL PLAYER and WINDOWS MEDIA cant open it due to the extension or lack of some CODEC application.

Quite impressive showmanship - you can tell that Miller was a huge fan of the Lunceford band.

By the way, that ITM clip is from Sun Valley Serenade - dreadful movie but well worth having just for the Nicholas Brothers in Chattanooga Choo Choo.

Hmm, the files work just fine for me. Spent a few minutes in audacity to break the songs up into individual files and clip out some of the dead space (ok more than a few minutes, I have a slow computer).

Let me know how you like them.

That album was all the rage amongst audiophiles and big band fans when it came out circa 1970. None of the tracks are bad and some are very good. Superb ensemble work and British style solos. No vocals.

Ya know - good changes of pace from the originals. Their 2 O'clock Jump is pretty good.

Volume Two was not as good.

I still have this on LP and reel-to-reel tape!

If you like endless ski chases, sure. Or Sonja Henie.

You don't get to hear Sun Valley Jump (one of the better Glenn Miller tunes IMO) in the movie, though.

Have you even sat through the entire film? Doesn't sound like it. Sure you're not confusing it with "Gunga Din"? They both have people in them.

Oh yeah. Granted, that was like 15 years ago, when I first bought it on VHS. So the description I gave was what had stuck in my memory, besides the music and dance numbers. Have it on DVD now, but I must admit I've never sat through it again.
