Each year we explore some of the harder-to-find early jazz & swing dances in an effort to keep the past alive and bring new flavors into our dance. Come join us this July 4th weekend for a celebration of vintage dance and music!

This year we are very excited to announce our featured instructors: Joel & Alison Plys! Internationally acclaimed dancers and instructors, Joel & Alison (San Diego, CA) have taught all over the US as well as Australia, Canada, and all over Europe. Taught by some of the original dancers of the 30's & 40's, they are recognized as two of the best vintage dance instructors in the world.

Will include Collegiate Shag, Peabody, Black Bottom, Bal-Trot, 20's Charleston, texas Tommy, 1920's Blues, and more!

We're proud to showcase the DJ stylings of Allen Kerr (DC), Victor Celania (VA), Gina Helfrich (GA), Aba Browning (TN), Sue Hawn (NC), and Michael Gamble (NC). As always, we'll be featuring a tasty cocktail of early jazz, hot jazz, sweet jazz, ragtime, washboard & jug band music, dixieland jazz, early swing, vintage blues, and more!

Alright, folks. Early-bird registration will officially open May 14th- yes, that's next week! The insanely low early bird price is $75, which is a $20 savings off our pre-registration price of $95.

Hey guys! Got a few updates here:

1) Our contests have been officialized. We're very excited about the Sugar Foot Jam: This is a no-rules, no-limitations fast dance contest in mixed all-skate and jam format. You can do lindy hop, shag, balboa, partner charleston, solo charleston, peabody, or anything else! You must enter with a partner. Just $15/couple. 1st place winners take all! Learn more on our contests page.

2) As some of you may have heard, the website www.idance.net is under new ownership and is planning a grand re-opening this summer. Along the many new features and new instructors added to the site will be new lessons by Sugar Foot's very own Joel & Alison! These lessons will be filmed right before the event, and we're open to community input regarding what exactly Joel & Alison will be covering. Learn more by visiting the stomp blog!
