Oh, and Jeff Healey's trad-jazz albums were added a week ago!

I got a dozen great Fletcher Henderson tracks off of "Live at the Grand Terrace, Chicago, 1938". I never heard them before, but after a few seconds of previewing I downloaded them without blinking. They swing just right!

Haydn wrote:There's an album called 'No Name Jive' by the Casa Loma Orchestra which is new on eMusic. Lovely 1930s music with good sound quality -

New on eMusic UK in July 2008 is a good modern CD called Talk To Me from London-based Blue Harlem.
(As usual with eMusic, I believe that this is also available in the rest of Europe, but may not be available in the USA and elsewhere
)
UPDATE: I know it's frustrating for US eMusic users who often can't buy music that's available in Europe. So, I just checked the USA iTunes Store, and the above album IS available there (not as good as eMusic, I know, but it's nice to know that at least some of these albums are available in some form to you in the US (and it might be on Amazon MP3 downloads too - and those are NOT available in Europe at the moment
).

Thanks - I'd not noticed it come out. I've always liked Blue Harlem, and there's some great stuff on that album.Haydn wrote:New on eMusic UK in July 2008 is a good modern CD called Talk To Me from London-based Blue Harlem.
Another Blue Harlem CD has appeared on eMusic UK. It's called Swing Street. As with the other Blue Harlem CD on eMusic ('Talk To Me'), it contains some good swing music. Both these albums feature the Dublin-born singer Imelda May, who has since left the band. Other Blue Harlem CDs, including a new one released in July 2008, are available via their website:

This one used to be hard to find as I recall, a solid recent addition.

Lots of great tracks from 1936 and 1937 on this Red Mckenzie CD which has appeared on eMusic UK
There seems to be a new series available on eMusic that is [very] similar to the output of the Chonological Classics label: http://www.emusic.com/charts/ch/b/-dbm/ ... 609/0.html [edit: not available in US]
It's called the "Complete Jazz Series" and there are already 78! albums of classic jazz available. The quality is average but useful enough.
