I know Easy Money is certainly a classic top-notch Basie number. And if you ask me, it's one of the best songs to hear a live band close out a set with. However, I only have a single recording of it (not by Basie, BTW), and I don't really care for this particular rendition as a dance number.
Could you suggest some outstanding hard-swinging recordings of this tune?
Thanks,
Brent

I've had a look and I can't find one I would describe as 'hard-swinging'.Cyrano de Maniac wrote:I know Easy Money is certainly a classic top-notch Basie number ... Could you suggest some outstanding hard-swinging recordings of this tune?

OK, I'll broaden my criteria then. Do you know of any versions that you feel would reliably drive you to the dance floor.Haydn wrote:I've had a look and I can't find one I would describe as 'hard-swinging'.
There's a jazz trio here (Minneapolis) that often closes out sets with a rendition of Easy Money. It's by far the most swinging version of the song I've heard, but unfortunately it's not been recorded. I'm kinda lookin' for a fix.
