John R. T. Davies has passed on

#1 Post by AlekseyKosygin » Thu Jun 03, 2004 1:07 pm

He had been sick for a while but was still able to respond to my emails with unwavering courtesy and helpfulness...He passed away last week and I'm pretty sad about it...If you appreciate great sounding vintage swinging jazz on CD you will know this man's name...he has done audio restoration through the years and his work was always known to be the best of the best and you could HEAR the difference...If you have any Hep, JSP, Timeless, Jazz ORACLE, Retrieval, or Frog releases chances are that John worked on them...

Thought people on here would like to know...

He was a great man!
Everyone check out his web site:
http://www.jazzrescue.com/
Especially the pages that discuss how he restored records. The guy was a wizard.

I haven't been able to load this page for a while now.

Have you guys had the same experience?

Do you know if it has resurfaced on another web site?

A friend of mine knew him, so I just sent him an e-mail asking.

I think there was a message on the site earlier this year saying it would be closed.

My friend had no info, but he gave me the e-mail of his widow, so I will drop her a line later on.

I hope they did not close it. Hmmmm...if they have, I think I may know a way to get at it.
