Ditto on Sackville Allstars, Some Blues & Best of Friends - Just a Lucky So and So is really good too.
I have the 41-43 stuff on this album:
and it sounds really good.
I think imma go buy some more of the sackville releases - the stuff I have is just what I've run into on LP, I had no idea there were so many more..

I picked this up last week, I set a pre-order on Half.com months ago and a copy finally turned up. I second the recomendation.Brother Swing wrote:I like "Roll 'Em" on Black&Blue label as well.
Nice version of "Confessing the Blues" + Shorty George
I played a few tracks for dancers last night and they went over great.

So so.Shorty Dave wrote: Kalman, I totally dig the song Doo Wah Doo on that Whorehouse cd with Ralph Sutton (also on the Chiaroscuro label)...
For the record, there are two Chewbacca CDs of the same name by McShann and Sutton. Different tracks on both.
The Proper Pair on McShann is a good primer, too.
Kalman

Does that version of the cd have the tracks with Claude Williams?Nate Dogg wrote:I picked this up last week, I set a pre-order on Half.com months ago and a copy finally turned up. I second the recomendation.Brother Swing wrote:I like "Roll 'Em" on Black&Blue label as well.

Well, I have two Black and Blue Session CDs.CafeSavoy wrote:Does that version of the cd have the tracks with Claude Williams?
Claude Williams - My Silent Love
and
Jay McShann-Confessin the Blues
I don't think Claude Williams is on the Jay McShann disc. But, I don't have the CD with me, I need to go home and verify.
Jay McShann is on the Claude Williams CD
There is a Jay McShann cd (i think it's Black and Blue but not Definitive Black and Blue) that has Claude Williams on a few tracks including Shorty George, Jive at Five, and Just You Just Me. I think the non-Claude Willaims tracks are on one of those Def B&B cds.Nate Dogg wrote:

I just picked up another Definitive Black and Blue Sessions CD, and it is still not the one that Rayned is looking for. Perhaps, we should start at thread about the Black and Blue label (or resurrect and old one, I could not find such a thread).
No Claude Williams, but they do have Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Arnett Cobb, and Al Casey

Nice find. Don't think i have that one. Actually i have those mcshann-williams tracks, i was just wondering if they've been reissued. Trying to determine if there are additional tracks.Nate Dogg wrote:I just picked up another Definitive Black and Blue Sessions CD, and it is still not the one that Rayned is looking for.
