Willie Bryant and Teddy Wilson
I don't have anything by these two artists and I'm trying to build my collection. Does anyone have any recommendations for either of them?
I like Wilson's "And Then They Wrote" which is his trio performing songs by other pianists. Not all tracks are good for dancing but I like his King Porter Stomp and I think it could be an effective transition album from "groove" to swing and vice versa.
Teddy Wilson His Piano and His Orchestra featuring Billie Holiday is not bad either, but I bought it mainly for "What a Little Moonlight Can Do". Don't remember much else about it.

The Willie Bryant CC album is great. It also features Teddy Wilson on piano.Jitters wrote:I don't have anything by these two artists and I'm trying to build my collection. Does anyone have any recommendations for either of them?
For Teddy Wilson the big band album Jump for Joy is a must have. It's on Hep and might be a little hard to get. The trio and quartet stuff with Goodman are also good additions.

I really like Willie Bryant, and I think this album has better sound quality than the CC does.

Willie Bryant & His Orchestra

You should find it in the High street too, if not here.
Teddy Willson in on some of the Willie Bryant recordings anyway.
