Hoosier Hot Shots

#1 Post by Matthew » Thu Feb 10, 2005 1:08 am

The Proper box is on my wish list, and I'm wondering if anybody plays their stuff. If so, for what kind of dancers, and what are the reactions? Thanks.

I've put off buying that so many times - now I have to get it.

I have the box set. I have to admit I really haven't listend to it much, my impression was that it wasn't really suited for dancing, but I'll grab it on my way out today, listen to it again, and provide some opinion for you.

Here's the blurb on back of the box:

"During the 1930's and 1940's the Hoosier Hot Shots developed a style of musical comedy that was uniquely their own. Their music has been described as rural jazz, but it was more than that as their styule took in elements of ragtime, dixieland, western swing and a serious helping of comedy and novelty. This box wset presents the most in-depth survey ever of the Hoosier Hot Shots, 100 tracks of music that is never less than lively.
