All I can say, Lawrence, is it's so great to live in New York City. You guys don't even know about the smaller stuff. We have three weekends in a row of incredible live music culminating with Ray. The first is a cd release party for Dave Glasser, awesome alto-sax dude who also currently has the honor of being the other horn in Clark Terry's quintet. The second weekend is Ron Sunshine (popular local band) on Fri and Paul Tillotson (amazing piano player...grew up in Boise and learned from Gene Harris!) on Sat. That event's actually in Philly, but everyone from NYC will be there. And then of course Ray himself. He's gonna try to get Winard Harper and Ray Drummond to play with him, but no promises yet.

Ray's not doing well...he's got diabetes and is partially blind. And rarely gigs these days. We're *very* lucky (I think Junior put in a good word for us :):):) ) It was either this date or not 'til May so we went for this and announced it as soon as we confirmed everything. It's still over a month away.

And Lawrence, trust me, book your flight for Oct 9th already ;)

Yes! This event will be affected...

...it will no longer be at Jack Rose (duh), but instead will be at another venue. It looks like it's gonna be a beautiful space up at Columbia that already has a grand piano :) I will confirm things asap.

Great to see excitement from some other East Coast people outside of NYC :)
