The chrono classics aren't going to be in for like 3 or 4 weeks though, but I get the Standing Tall and Apollo Jump next week

Here are my last findings :
-Joe Turner - Definitive Black&Blue Sessions
This french label had some oldtimers recording some sessions in the late 60s. Some of them are jewels.
-Jazz&Humour / Saga
Another french label called Saga (www.sagajazz.com) reissuing some old classics. Some of their CD are "themed" ones like this one with fun songs like Oo-Shoo-Be-Doo-Be from Dizzy Gillespie of "Petite Laitue" from Roy Eldridge.
-Rhythm&Blues Big Band / Saga
Also from Saga label, this one is full of titles from end 40s, with Lionel Hampton, Lucky Millinder, Buddy Johnson, ... I like it a lot.
-Count Basie the Golden Years / Jazz Archive
I love hearing Basie at the Savoy, even so the sound quality is not great. I haven't DJ with it yet, but it gives such an atmosphere.
-Duke Ellington - Side By Side
I like "Big Shoe" an "Going Up" a lot
-Ray Charles - Soul and Blues
Nice early tracks, I like especially "Roll with myBaby"
-The Mills Brothers spectacular
Also I don't like it as much as their Basie's stuff, it is nice to listen to their versions of Tiger Rag or Shoe Shine Boy.
-Sammy Davis Junior - Hey Won't You Play
NEVER BUY THIS ONE. If you know any good album from SDJ, I would be interested. I heard the track 'Love me or Leave me' from him and it is a great number.

[Thanks to everyone who responded on the O.P. thread - I've heard every track on Night Train Dj'ed at some point in Seattle, and I think the Ultimate CD is also a good starting point for O.P.]

Ernestine Anderson - My Kinda Swing - good version of See See Rider
Louis Armstrong - Satch Plays Fats - also very good
Let me Off Uptown - Anita O'Day with Gene Krupa - has some great songs; several which I hear a lot - might be overplayed at bit.
Nat King Cole Trio Transcriptions Vol 1-2 (1938-1939) - haven't had a chance to listen to this too much but I like the early sound.
Duke Ellington - Blues in Orbit
Duke Ellington - And his Mother called him Bill - highly recommend
First Time: The Count Meets the Duke [not sure if I like this yet, still listening]
Sidney Bechet - Ken Burns Jazz - highly recommend as a good starting point
Chick Webb - Spinnin' the Webb
Fletcher Henderson - Ken Burn Jazz
Fletcher Henderson - Chronogical Classics - 1931-32 - good mix of charleston/shag/early swing
Artie Shaw - The Complete Gramercy Five Sessions - highly recommend

The Legendary Big Band Series - Chick Webb

Jump for Joy is decent.
The Andy Kirk has a lot of vocals and I'm not too big of a fan of the vocals.
The Chick Webb was REALLY cheap (4$!!) and it had a few songs I didn't have yet, so I picked it up.

Still awaiting a couple of Mills Blue Rhythm Band cds.

It seems like with Andy Kirk, you get 1/2 or 2/3rds of the good stuff by just picking up Mary's Idea.. there was a used shop in eugene with like 4 of 'em at once - and I listened through 'em all and didnt find all that much more good stuff.

Yeah, I've been told to get that one, so I think I'll just keep that one as the next Andy Kirk to get. You live and learn.

Oh, and for those who may EVER be around an A&B Sound in BC, they just dropped the prices of their cds again, it seems most of the Jazz stuff is down 30%, so stuff like chrono classics are 15$ Canadian now. I know I'm gonna be hitting that up today

But make sure you don't want to get any Chick Webb or Fletcher Henderson or Andy Kirk or anything else Harrison is buying because they won't have it.

Dude - last time I was in Vancouver I went shopping there and they were out of stock in a lot of stuff I was looking for - I blame you!

Well for anyone going to the Vancouver places don't worry, I won't be there until December, so stock up now. But the one here in Victoria should be out of the good stuff by the end of today muahahaha.
