Crackle Barrel Swing

#1 Post by jacques_g » Thu Sep 04, 2003 9:36 am

Hello,

On my way back from a Carolina Shag event in Daytona beach I did a stop for lunch at Crackel Barrel. I purchased some swing music there.

One item I purchased was a cassette labeled: "Radio Classics" there was a section in the store where old radio programs were stored. These included suspence novels, and stand up comics from the 1920's - 1950's. There was some big band recordings as well. The big band tape I purchased had songs I didn't previously have. The only thing that was bad about it was that the songs listed weren't in the same order on tape leaving me wondering which one was which. (A bit difficult when you aren't familiar with some of the instrumental tunes).

I also purchased an excellent CD called: "Bob French's Original Tuxedo band". This was mostly dixieland jazz somewhat similar to the preservation hall jazz band.

I have that CD, they played at Lindy Gras and I bought it. Great CD.

I played Bob French's "Wabash blues" in my radio show yesterday. I had 3 of his albums; I gave my Dad 2 of them and Moo Cow the other. Tuxedo Jazz band is great -the one I liked best is "Livin' the legacy". :)
