THE JAZZ ADVENTURES OF TIMME ROSENKRANTZ - New book

#1 Post by Eyeball » Tue Feb 21, 2012 10:56 pm

This should be very good. He did great liner notes for the Chick Webb Columbia LP years ago. He was on the scene from 1934 on. First thing he did when he got to the US was get off the boat and head up to the Savoy Ballroom.

Thanks for the heads-up! I need to catch up on jazzlives one of these days, too.

Straight to the top of my wishlist.

Sure thing!

You can subscribe. He posts numerous live Jazz clips almost every day. Mostly current geoups playing in a Swing or N.O. idiom. Even posts some NYC dancers now and then.
Will big bands ever come back?

Ya gotta love a guy like that. His liner notes for the Chick Webb Columbia LP tell a lot about that first night. I wonder if they are on line?

Thanks for the tip - a copy of the book is making it's way to Australia. The song mp3s on the website sound good. Nice small group stuff that is great for balboa.
