thanks, anton, those lists are really handy.

i checked a few titles, and they all appear to be available here in the land of milk, honey, and the department of homeland oppression--yay!

There's an interesting article about transcripts on emusic (I'm still interested in transcripts).

Forgot to add: link to the complete standard transcripts on emusic. Not necessarily all fabulous for DJing for dancers (though some are), but interesting.
If this album cover doesn't make you want to blow your credit:

I don't know what will.

Wow, cool, did not think it would happen due to the differing copyright laws. Looks like they have 477 up so far.

I went through a quick pass of the albums, added them to my New addition list, I have not updated the A-L, M-Z lists, since A-L is maxed out at 500, I either need to make a third list or rebalance them somehow.

Cut and paste link below into your browser.

I've discovered there are a lot of early RnB and Soul albums from the Ace Records label on eMusic UK -

There's some great 50s and 60s stuff there, and sound quality is excellent.

No more Chronological Classics on eMusic USA?

#171 Post by Gong-Oh » Thu Mar 04, 2010 8:55 pm

The Chronological Classics don't seem any longer available on eMusic USA. :( Check out the link. There were about 470 albums for download. I downloaded my last CC tune on February 28th.

I emailed eMusic customer service asking whether this is just a temporary problem or not, but I got a response that doesn't mean much ("... Many labels sign geographic-based distribution deals that limit worldwide distribution of a particular album...").

Maybe other U.S. based eMusic subscribers could email them too to give them some pressure on this issue. :)

Cheers,
Lorenzo

Australia too. It's not often something works in our favour on emusic, so I'm taking it. ;)

Indeed. I checked all the chronological albums I downloaded last week and emusic now says they are all unavailable for download.

Emusic said, "The label that owns the rights to the music you are looking for has decided not to make this music available in your region. Your region is determined by us based on the billing address of the credit card we have on record for you.... We also forward your comments to our Label Relations group to keep them up to date on what our members are looking for. Also, we encourage you to contact the labels of the bands you're looking for and ask them to get their stuff onto eMusic."

So, it makes sense for us to all contact emusic and say we want them back.

The Chronological Classics are still available on Amazon USA. Maybe they were getting better sales on Amazon and decided to quit with eMusic. :?:

It would have been nice if eMusic at least let us know in advance that the label were to be discontinued. They keep bragging that they are expanding the catalog and out of the sudden almost 500 albums are gone.

Also I have never understood why only a portion of the CC albums were available for download instead than all of them.

If I had to guess, it's probably more about the risk of a huge copyright lawsuit in the U.S. vs the small amount of sales from the U.S. All the Chrono-classics were produced under European copyright where they the recordings are fair game after 50 years.

It's odd that we still have them in Canada. Usually we don't get anything blocked to the U.S. or limited to only the U.S.

Two albums have just appeared on eMusic UK called "Jazz in Italy In The 40s" apparently by Giampiero Boneschi'. There's some nice relaxed swing here that I've never heard before -
