I just realized that "Easy Does It" (1940) by Count Basie has a similar structure. It also goes A-B-A, A-B-A, etc.GemZombie wrote:I was listening to Gene Krupa's Ball of Fire, and noticed that mostly the sections were sets of 3 phrases where the phrases were 4 counts of 8. (There's an Intro of 2 phrases, followed by 4 sections, each with 3 phrases, followed by a solo section of 1 phrase, then ending with one more section consisting of 3 phrases).
Can anyone think of any other song that puts these sections into 3 phrase increments like that?
In fact, if you listen to the two songs back to back, they are not that different. If you take "Easy Does It", switch it from major to minor, increase the tempo, and loop the basic riff, then you basically get "Ball of Fire" (1941)!
