Its a great song. I played it a lot a few years ago, but I've been giving it a rest these days. I remember even hearing one of our local DJs playing that song as his token "groove" song. Anyway, good choice for a theme song!

Brenda
i love that song. she has a couple of versions, but i really like that live version. i didn't realize
until recently that it's a peggy lee song. Ella's version on _Juan Les Pins_ mentions Peggy Lee.

Yeah we drove that one into the ground out here.

I don't know if I have a theme but out of some DJs I love I hear a spasific song and I think only of them:

Shana: Popsysle Toes and/or Groove Juice Special
Doug Silton: Frankie & Johnny
John Dyer: "You can get with this or you can get with that...." rap
Larry: anything by Blossom Dreary

me - no one ever plays "Life is But a song" from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Musical Soundtrack - or "Sugardaddy" from Hedwig and the Angry inch - coures when Deb and I DJ we ply fun music before anouncments sometimes like the Star Wars theme and Rocky! Heehee!
"I wear the cheese, it dose not wear me." - Cheese Man
"Primal"
Buffy the Vampire Slayer

agree - I used to hear "I love being here with you" whenever Ben Solomon Dj'ed; then I didn't hear it for a couple of years, and now a lot of people play it. I'm trying to restrain myself to not play it everytime I DJ - guess I need to look for a couple of more anthems :)

I hear you're coming out for the Seattle Exchange? We'll make sure all your favorites get played - "I love being here with you", "Wade in the Water", "Shiny Stockings", Gene Harris' "Don't Get Around Much Anymore" and let's see - maybe "Potato Chips" :P

I don't DJ, but my theme song is definitely Eddie Reed's version of Jazznocracy.

Why? Because it's the first song I ever danced to where I felt like I was really, and I mean, REALLY, doing Lindy Hop. Like, so in the moment that even trainwrecking was being a golden god.

(Also, Eddie Reed was playing the very first night I ever saw Lindy Hop. He didn't play Jazznocracy as it was the quintet, but it was a life-changing night for me.)

Louis Armstrong doing "Taint what you do" with Trummy Young, from the box set "the California Concerts", disc 3....

It alwasy packs the floor, and I always get atleast 1 or 2 people asking what CD it's off of....

The first time I ever DJed, I accidentally cued up "Hit That Jive Jack." It was a huge hit, and the last song of the night. I frequently end a set with some version of that song.
