This looks pretty good.
Does it seem like something worth downloading?
I am pretty burned out on all the ads and banners and pop-ups.
Thx!

Crude and messy but it would work to block a small number of specific host names. I would be cautious messing with the hosts file, particularly adding entries from a source which you may or may not trust since this technique is effectively hijacking DNS lookups (translating from names to IP addresses).
This is probably not in the first 50 things your ISPs tech support staff will think of if you have problems accessing the Internet. It's a good idea if you know what you're doing, a bad idea if you don't.

the above suggests you use windows, so:
1. use firefox
2. block pop-up windows (tools->options->content)
3. install adblock: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10

Instead of adblock I'd go with adblock plus. Adblock is no longer being updated and doesn't work with firefox 3.0. http://adblockplus.org/en/

I think I'm running FF 2.0.0.12 - thats what I see in my add/delete programs section in the control panel. Whats up with FF 3?
I have recently been trying Opera and Flock - both have nice features tho Flock sometime launches itself when I get my Yahoo mail. Irksome.
I dont see AdBlock in there. Was the AdBlock Plus kind of a beta roll out program?
Checked history - I was on both pages. Plus sounds like what I have. I have a little icon in the right hand corner of the browser. If I click on it, I get a few options including disable AdBlock and blockable items.
I need to kniw how to only allow one or two item to appear and the rest not.
I have couple forum where it is blocking all image content and on Delphi it is blocking everything. Total white page.
Still in all - great to not see so much junk.

All avatars.
Even the forum Basie banner.
Upgrade Firefox, and get the adblock plus. I run that, it doesn't block anything here.
http://www.getfirefox.com for the latest firefox.
