Utah Lindy Exchange 2008

Write "freeze my toosh off in Utah" on your calendar! ULX 2008 will be January 25-27 in Salt Lake City (pre-exchange dance on the 24th... it won't suck this year either!).

If you ski or snowboard (or dance!) there's no better place to be than Utah in January!

Last year hundreds of dancers came from all over and enjoyed a weekend of skiing, snowboarding, extreme sledding (and hot chocolate), a polygamy dance contest, great live music, great food, and tons of dancing! This year we're working hard to make it even better.

ULX registration is live today!

But guess what?

Our website is really ugly. We'll have a nifty design up by Tuesday night-ish, but for now it's ugly.

So guess what that means? It means if you register before the real design is up you save $20!

So register before Tuesday night and pay $45. Pay after that and it goes up to $55. Wait until December and it goes up to $65.

ULX 2008: Powered by awesome. What does that mean? It means it's more fun than fuzzy ear muffs*.

* You might want ear muffs. It gets cold in January. But that cold is good for snow. We like snow. Especially snow in the mountains, which we get a lot of. You can ski and snowboard and go sledding on snow in the mountains.

What's skiing like in Utah in December? Awesome. January? Awesome. February? Same answer. May? See the video.

Of course, ULX is in January. The point of the video of skiing in May is to show how awesome skiing is here in general.

The dancing and music will be awesome too, by the way.

How good is our Saturday night band, New Deal Swing? Let's see what Steven Watkins had to say about them (and about ULX in general).

That band that played of Saturday night (New Deal) was incredible, one
of the best swing bands I've heard in years. They were cookin' from the
very first note of their very first song. Good music, good presence, they
had personality as well...they weren't just playing hot music from their
charts (which were great), you could tell they were interacting nicely with
the dancers even up on that stage. I'm glad to know they'll be back.

And I believe the late night dances went well, people had the options of
still dancing fast in a lindy room and changing up their tempos (fast &
slow) in a really sultry blues room.

Why wait?

Brief Schedule of ULX:

Thursday Jan. 24:
Pre-Exchange dance with awesome live band*. $5
* If you've been to the pre-exchange dance in years past and thought "wow that sucked," we thought so too so we made sure another venue got the pre-exchange dance this time around. No suckage.

Friday Jan. 25:
Afternoon welcome dance, 12-4 PM
Evening dance with super awesome band: 8:30-12
Late night: 12:30-4am with 3 dance rooms, food, billiard tables and a theater.

Saturday Jan. 26:
Afternoon: Ski and snowboard to your heart's content. Sledding for those who don't ski or board.
Evening dance with super another awesome band: 8:30-12
Late night: 12:30-5am with multiple dance rooms, food, and I think there's a pool table at this late night venue too.

Sunday Jan. 27:
Ski, snowboard, etc.
Farewell dance 8:30-12
