Favourite recording of ... 'Hit The Road Jack'
Recently I've heard two fantastic versions of this song (I didn't know either of them). The only really good swing version I know is Ray Charles' hit. Any recommendations for others?

Not trying to be a ballbuster, but HTR,Jack is not a "swing" song or a Swing song or even a song that swings. But it seems to be a song some people use to Swing dance to.Haydn wrote:Recently I've heard two fantastic versions of this song (I didn't know either of them). I have never heard a cover version.
There's a wonderful slow version by Omar & The Howlers. Available on eMusic.

And don't forget Laverne Butler's version from Blues In The City that used to be quite popular.

A few years back, I was at the local CD store (Cheapo Records), checking out, and I noticed the guy behind in line had a huge stack of classic swing CDs. I looked up and it was Omar Dykes.straycat wrote:There's a wonderful slow version by Omar & The Howlers. Available on eMusic.
