What Lead Jazz Instrument Speaks To You?
Post here to discuss and give your alternatives / other favorites. Personally, Trumpet is often my thing outside of the rhythm section.

Given the way you wrote the categories, I was only given one possible choice....
"I don''t dig that two beat jive the New Orleans cats play.
My boys and I have four heavy beats to the bar and no cheating!

Gotta go with the sax although it really depends who's playing. I don't really dig the mule honking (if you can't play it well, play it loud) style but I love Hodges, The Pres, Bechet, and many others.
Trumpet probably appeals to me the least as a solo instrument, usually it's played a wee bit too harsh for my taste.
I like other less conventional string instruments too.

I'm the wierdo who likes drum and bass solos... though I suppose those are out of the "lead" category.
Of those I can vote for, I'd have to go guitar... cause I play a mean guitar... hero II.
