I am not jesse and don't have an official answer, but i would guess that the answer to your question is "No, the shows are not archived". And for the same reason they are not available as podcasts, namely, issues concerning the downloading of music. But perhaps they could pick another day (hopefully on the weekend) when they could rebroadcast the shows.

It would be cool to hear an entire month of Yehoodi DJs (maybe when Jesse is on his honeymoon? hehe) with the dates they aired to see, maybe, how musical tastes have evolved.

There was an all guest DJ month not all that long ago.

Perhaps one of the weekend days would be a good time to re-run old guest-DJ shows, a different one each week. There are quite a few I've wanted to hear and missed because I'm too damn busy during the week.

August Thursday Guest DJ: Hep Jen (San Francisco, CA)

DJ Hep Jen from San Francisco, CA is our August guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here’s a little about Jen:

"DJ Hep Jen has inspired generations of Lindy Hoppers for the last 10 years. From her humble beginnings with her trusty boombox in Seattle, DJ Hep Jen's fan base has grown, and during the swing craze years, she DJed four venues each week in Seattle. DJ Hep Jen was a DJ at Swing Camp Catalina in its heyday, and over the years, you've heard her DJ at Camp Hollywood, Swing Out Northwest, and the Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown. DJ Hep Jen has fresh music you won't hear from other DJs, and she gets the dance floor jumping!"

Enjoy! :)

What Rayned said. :)

We would love to regularly feature past guest DJ shows, but unfortunately we are currently unable to do so due to our limited server space at live365.com.

We have done two Guest-DJ-A-Thons (a month with different guest DJs featured each weekday) since Yehoodi Radio started. It will probably be a while until the next one.

Jesse

PS. Yes I do read this thread (I read every thread on SwingDJs!). Sorry I've been busy and haven't been responding quickly.

September Thursday Guest DJ: Lawrence Page (Austin, TX)

DJ Lawrence Page from Austin, TX is our September guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here’s a little about Lawrence:

"Lawrence "Please-don't-call-me-DJ" Page has been dancing and DJing Lindy Hop and Swing music for over a decade, based first in Chicago and now Austin, Texas. Lawrence has DJ'ed the after hours dances at Catalina (even before there was an official "unofficial" after hours dance), several other workshops, dozens of Lindy Exchanges, hundreds of weekly local dances throughout the country, and has coordinated the music (live and DJed) for several Austin Lindy Exchanges. With this Yehoodi show, he now has few unfulfilled Lindy Hop ambitions."

Enjoy! :)

October Thursday Guest DJ: Jonathan Stout (Los Angeles, CA)

Bandleader Jonathan Stout from Los Angeles, CA is our October guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here’s a little about Jonathan:

"I am the guitar player and leader of Jonathan Stout and his Campus Five and the Jonathan Stout Orchestra. During my Yehoodi Guest DJ set you will hear several different things. First and foremost are just some of my favorite swing songs – songs that encapsulate the vibrant, rockin’ energy of the original swing-era. You’ll also hear some of the great examples of swing guitar playing and swing drumming that I’ve dug up in learning about swing. Also, you’ll hear some of the modern bands that play swing music right. Finally, I’ve thrown a couple of unreleased Campus Five tracks that will be on our upcoming 3rd record. Hope you enjoy what you hear."

Enjoy! :)

Big Band Stuff
1. Keep on Jumpin' – Earl Hines – Jazz Collector Edition
2. Royal Flush – 1942 Metronome All Stars – Summit Meetings 1939-50
3. Board Meeting – Count Basie – Café Society Uptown, 1941
4. Henderson Stomp – Benny Goodman
5. Jeepers Creepers – Gene Krupa – Gene Krupa Story
6. Lunceford Special – Jimmie Lunceford – 1939-1940
7. Ridin' High – Benny Goodman – On the Air 1937-1938
8. Listen My Children – Count Basie – The Complete Decca Recordings
9. Hold Your Hats – Artie Shaw – King of Clarinet 1938-1939 - Just listen
to how clearly you can hear Buddy Rich on this - listen to that bass drum.

10. Nagasaki – Gene Krupa – Gene Krupa Story
11. Ratamacue (A Smo-o-oth One) – Cab Calloway – The Engine Room
Here are 3 different version of One O'Clock Jump, all recorded 1941-1946 by the Basie band with different outro riffs.
12. One O'Clock Jump – Count Basie – The Gold Collection
13. One O'Clock Jump (All Star Jump) – 1942 Metronome All Stars –
Complete Original American RCA-Victor Recordings
14. One O' Clock Jump – Count Basie – Let's Jump
15. Floatin' – Bobby Sherwood – Issued Recordings

19. Rosalie – Artie Shaw – Self Portrait
20. Harlem Jump – Jack Teagarden – Big "T"

23. Bugle Call Rag – Coleman Hawkins (1939 Metronome All Stars) - A
Retrospective 1929-1963
Small Group Stuff
24. Bugle Call Rag – Nat King Cole (JATP 1944) the Complete JATP Performances

28. What's This? – Illinois Jacquet – Jumpin' at Apollo

Hittin' on all Six - Les Paul rocks on this. This is my favorite version of Moten by a small group.
30. My Blue Heaven – Artie Shaw Gramercy Five – The Complete Gramercy Five Recordings - Listen to that bass drum!!! - One of the few records where you can really hear it. That thump is so propulsive, and its solidness makes all of the other off beats and accents pop.
31. G-Men – Cootie Williams – 1941-1944 - Cootie used to use this riff when playing Flying Home w/ BG sextet, and turned it into its own song.
32. New Lester Leaps In – Lester Young – the Complete Aladdin Recordings

40. My Daddy Rocks Me – Benny Goodman Sextet – Slipped Disc (1945-1946) - the later version of Six Appeal

I added some annotations to this list, so can see what the hell I was thinking.

Does Yehoodi Radio broadcast in anything but 64kbps? If I had a VIP membership, could I listen to it as one of the "CD-quality" "MP3Pro" broadcasts Live365 touts?

Please answer ASAP! Thanks.

Nope. The current 64kbps stream is the much-improved upgrade we recently made from our original 32kbsp stream! I don't think there are currently any plans for a "CD-quality" broadcast, but I will look into it.
