Ha!!!
Elkhart, IN is my hometown. The local community has put on a superior jazz festival every year that I can remember. On a side note, the local Black Expo puts on amazing soul and blues conventions as well. In fact, I was there when Ecklund recorded that CD, though I did not know it until today. I was broke in '94, so that explains why I didn't get much music from the festival back then.
Jen and I are going back this year, if anyone is interested (that means you Swifty). Please note that Elkhart is a pretty small town - 50,000 people - and that Main Street is maybe 10 blocks long.

Of note this year, some return favorites - Joan Collaso, Bill Alllred's Classic Jazz Band, Tim Cunningham.

Clips at CD Universe - just one CD, though.kitkat wrote:Can't find any sound samples of Eklund online. What's he sound like? Or can you put up a 30-sec. clip somewhere for a little while? (I'll host if you need me to.)

I so totally love "Doin' the New Low Down" on that Elkhart album! It's a bit too long to DJ with though. I do play "I'm Putting All My Eggs..." a bit though.CafeSavoy wrote:Yeah, that's a nice version. Peter Ecklund is some interesting cds. Ever heard any of the Orphan News Boys stuff?JohnDyer wrote:Yacht Club Swing, Peter Eklund, Eklund at Elkhart (thanks Swifty!)
I just bought an Orphan News Boys disc from Peter last time he was in Rochester, I will have to check on the title. It's not listed on Amazon but it's good.
Amazon has clips from the entire album.kitkat wrote:Can't find any sound samples of Eklund online. What's he sound like? Or can you put up a 30-sec. clip somewhere for a little while? (I'll host if you need me to.)
