Money Songs

#1 Post by Jerry_Jelinek » Mon Sep 20, 2004 8:17 am

WKHR is organizing our next fund raiser. Scheduled for Oct 18-24.

I got the idea of creating a CD of swing music that relates to money.
I thought all of you pro DJs could come up with some ideas.

Here is a list from the top of my head:

'Plenty of Money and You' - Tony Bennet with Count Basie
'Why Don't you Do Right' - Peggy Lee with Benny Goodman
'Boogie for a Nickle' - Dick Kenney Orch
'Send Me Some Money' - Les Paul and Mary Ford
'Get Some Cash for your Trash' - Fats Waller

Others you can think of?

Some quick ones. I'm sure you'll get gazillions more (we're talking jazz, right?):

"Money Is Honey" - Basie
"Pink Cadillac" - Paul Bascomb
"Nickel's Worth of Liver" - Edith North Johnson and Henry Brown
"Haven't Got a Dollar to Pay Your House Rent Man" - (Don't have the musician handy. It's off
When the Sun Goes Down, Vol. 2.)
"Them Who Has, Gets" - Jimmie Lunceford

Abbey Lincoln has nice version of that too. It might be on her cd _You Got To Pay the Band_.

If you want to get real creative, how about "I've Got Plenty of Nothin'", or Chris Connor's "Miser's Serenade"?
