"Summertime" - Bechet, from Portrait (Past Perfect). It's the 3:18 version on CD 10. Makes me think of the overbearing heat and sun of summer. I have an Ellington version that's kind of similar, but I prefer this one because it sounds less orchestrated.
"Jazz a la Carte" - Ellington, from Duke's Men: The Small Groups, Vol. 1. Great intro, great tempo - makes me want to jump up and find a dance partner.
