I'm slowly becoming a fan of these guys. CDNOW/amazon sucks. All I want is a Dexter Gordon CD. Instead I get links to garden hoses, shoes, books, and other asorted crap. And then you can't find the cd. And if you do you order it just to find out a few days later that it is out of stock. Ever since Amazon took over CDNOW it has gone down the crapper.
Yard work sucks. I would much rather dj.

The only problem I have with JRM is the parking nearby. First time I went (only had a little time before a flight home from O'Hare) I ran out of patience looking for parking so spent $14 for an hour of parking in the garage next door.

Then again, last time I went to the Hollywood Amoeba, I walked. :)

JRM is an annual pilgrimage for me when I'm in Chitown.

I usually take the train which has a stop just 1 block away.

Then after my 2-3 hour shopping spree, I have them ship the CDs and LPs to me. They are very accomdating. I get the music usually a few days after I get home. It is like Xmas when the music arrives.

Oh how I miss CDNow.com. Life was so simple back then. They had everything I ever wanted (well they listed everything I ever wanted). I could search for anything and find anything. They had clips of almost every song. Their artist bios were informative had links to more artists. I spent hours at their site looking for stuff and sampled thousands of songs which by itself was a free education. I bought several hundred CD's from them over the years.

Then stupid Amazon couldn't take their competition, bought them out and destroyed my account. Just try searching for a song like "Potato Chips" on their site. They'll sell you frozen French fries and memory upgrades before they sell you music.

I went to JRM's website (http://www.jazzrecordmart.com/) looking for a few things. When it came time to enter my credit card number, the site wasn't secure.

Second that ... I've been missing CDNow as a research tool ...
