Don't mean to highjack here but exactly what is shag music?

Anyways, I have gone from a strictly classic and pre-swing dj to some late forties and early 50's stuff. I'm also experimenting with be-bop trying to figure out when I can spring it on people. The classic stuff is still there and it still dominates my sets but I've made my time radius a bit bigger. Early r&b and rock and roll still give me the heebie-jeebies. It's the same kind of feeling I get for the occasional neo-swing request (that I usually do not honor). So, certain dancers influence my taste in music. Going over my old playlist I've come to realize that I like Erskine Hawkins a lot.
Yard work sucks. I would much rather dj.
