you have to taste a little bit of everything before you can truly refine your tastes. I have tasted it all and found only one thing really satisfies my appetite.
Exactly. You can try ham and cheese sandwiches all you want, but that's not going to make you like them anymore. People have their various tastes in music, and you can never say "you're wrong because you're not expanding your tastes". Same with forcing someone to play music they don't enjoy. How is it going to make them a better DJ? In fact, I would think that this would make the DJ pretty miserable playing music that he knows he can't please a crowd with.

A more interesting battle would be to play the OTHER DJ's preference: I play my "classic" music from before 1945, and he plays his "groove" music from after 1960. .
I suggested this to Greg for ALHC this year, back when there was a groove vs. classic debate (read: tard-war) shortly after ALHC 2002. Yeah, you probably wouldn't own the records necessary, but you could, I dunno, DJ from the other guy's CDs.
The question of DJing music you don't like is a sticking point of course.
I just think it would be interesting. Once.

and it can't be heard by the deaf.

It's easy to sit there and say you'd like to have more money. And I guess that's what I like about it. It's easy. Just sitting there, rocking back and forth, wanting that money.

You are so cute!!
Don't mistake your first taste of truffles as the only enlightenment or "refinement" you will ever receive.
