so I really detest Peggy Lee's "Fever", but Barbara Morrison does a nice version on 9:20 Special...... I'd recommend that version if you wanted to honor the request.....

This girl really wanted Peggy Lee's version, and I don't carry it for obvious reasons... so I just pawned her off to Dave who was coming on after me (I think he played Barbara's version).

I like Peggy Lee better than Elvis or Madonna :)

I don't have the Barbara Morrison version though, I"ll have to go check it out.

If you like surf go for Dick Dale's version of fever, great song. I played it once at a dance and it worked fine (swings more than Peggy Lee at least)

Definitely Eva Cassidy's version of Fever. I also have another version supposedly with Eva and someone else. Anyone know who the other person would be?

While we are talking about other version's of Fever, another popular one can be found here, Joe Sample with Lalah Hathaway.

Definitely Madonna's version!!!

I'm a little cynical about this... it's just not a song worth trying to find obscure versions of :P

there are 773 versions per amg. Someone likes the song! I think it's good to have tolerable versions of songs people request often, Fever being one of them.

Now that I think about it, there's no version of this song I really like ... (deletes from hard drive so no-one can ask if I have it when I DJ).

Last night at the Century an older gentleman comes up to the booth:

Guy: Can you play something I can country two-step to?
Me: Well, I don't think I have anything that's suitable.
Guy: How about Boot-Scootin' Boogie - Brooks and Dunn
Me: I have that at home, but this *is* a swing dance.
Guy: Oh I thought it would be fun to do a 2-step.
Me: I have Nora Jones "Cold, Cold Heart" - (we are trying to encourage beginners at the Century and I decide I'll try to be nice- and I like this song and if it's good enough for Hank Williams it should be good enough for him)
Guy: OH, I don't care for her.
Me: ????? (but I don't say it). Well I have Randy Travis singing on a song - it's not really a two-step, but it's as close as I can get.
Guy: OK

then I play the song (Kevin Mahogany w/Randy Travis "I believe she was talking 'bout me" - a nice mid-tempo blues) and he does the worst east-coast swing to the song I can imagine......

One of our sweetest dancer is a Beyonce fanatic and not only requests her version of "Fever," but brings the CD, because he knows we don't own it. Yup, a disco-ish version.

I hate that. I don't go into a restaurant and start flipping through the chef's cookbook and then bring in my own organic vegetables.
