Occasionally, I see links and references to places that you can find particular recordings. I thought it would be a good idea to set up a thread where we could list good sources for music.

Not a big discussion thread, not a whole of commentary to be added, but I see this as a great reference thread, one that we can search on as we travel or search for that hard to find disc.

A few more that may be familiar, but are still useful.

CD Universe lets you preview nearly every track of almost every CD.

FYE also lets you preview much of the music, but at different points than does CD Universe (for example, 1:20 instead of 0:30)

GEMM has tons of hard-to-find recordings.

The categories are flexible, so when there is a need for a new category of links, it can easily be created. I hope this becomes more utilized in the future.

Jazzmart/Chicago has the largest/most diverse Jazz and blues collection I know of.

I've had pretty good luck with www.djangos.com . You can specify that they notify you when they have a used copy of something in.

Wow, just bought $110 worth @ CD Cellar here in Falls Church, VA. Newly discovered place. So I can't call it a favorite yet.

Bought some nice Ellington, Basie, Barnet, Charlie Shavers/Maxine Sullivan, Betty Roche, Fats Waller, Woody Herman, Roy Eldridge, and a handful of others. Non-swing, but a Bill Withers CD.... nice listening. Maybe when I'm not in a hurry to go teach a lesson, I'll actually put the CD names down here.

http://www.cheap-cds.com consistently has the lowest prices and speedy USPS first-class shipping which is very reasonably priced.

Many of the Past Perfect discs are available at Half Price Books. The stores have lots of them, they must have a deal worked or something (similarly, many of the budget Bethlehem Records CDs seem to be at every store as well). Most of the CDs are dirt cheap and new. When I walk into the local store, they have a big display filled with Past Perfect discs. You can also listen to some of them at the listening stations.

They have a good number of locations Texas and they have locations all over the U.S.

Some locations have good selection of used CDs, it really depends on the location.
