DJ Challenge

#1 Post by russell » Tue May 08, 2007 9:57 pm

I have an interesting DJ challenge this Saturday night. I am DJing at a charity dance where there will be Lindy Hop, Ceroc, Rock n Roll (like ECS) and Salsa dancers present. There will also be a live band. The challenge is to keep everyone dancing and happy. An impossibility but have to make an attempt. Strategy is play 2 songs for each dance type so keep mixing it up and also balance the material the band is playing. There is material that crosses over between the genres but sometimes that is a compromise for one of the groups. e.g. the lindy hoppers will dance to RnR material but it is not hard core swing also the Cerocers will dance to slower swinging music to not to faster swing music. The salsa does not really cross over.
It should be a fun challenge. Also doing the music for a competition being run so going to do 1 minute segments for each dance with a shine for each couple in the final.

(whopps - was supposed to put this under DJ Skills)

If I were attending this event, I would have only have one question for you:

Will there be a bar at this dance?
