Someone told me an anecdote once that went about like this: Sugar Sullivan was at a dance and the DJ began playing Lou Rawls and she said "Lou Rawls? LOU RAWLS? I CAN'T DANCE NO LINDY HOP TO LOU RAWLS!"

yeah yeah i know you're talking about blues but the discussion reminded me of the anecdote.

That was at the Basie Centennial weekend in NYC.

I wasn't there when she said it but it was all around the event like an STD.
