I have played songs for individual dancers, DJ friends who happen to be in town. But, I try to not play something that would fit into the set anyway.

Not that different than taking a request, accept that is initiated by the DJ.

If a DJ who sounds different from me is the room, I am not going to change my sound just to impress him. But, if one of my buddies is in town, I might play a song we discussed or something they turned me onto.

I'm not sure if my whole set is influenced by a particular dancer or a few dancers, but I'll play song for a buddy if they suggested it or I know they like it.

I've also been known to play a song so I can get in a dance with someone I like dancing with. :)

I have a friend that has a song dedicated to him. Everytime he is at a dance that I dj, I spin Sinatra's "Here's to the Losers." He still doesn't get the joke! :D
