obviously people have their own tastes.

i enjoy a wide variety of tempo and styles a dances. at late nights i prefer the DJs to keep the energy high while keeping the tempos slower.

At home, if i want to fall asleep, i listen to Norah Jones. If I want some energy, ill listen to sex pistols or the ramones or rage etc.

one funny guy? you continue to pick and pick, so easy to do it from austin behind your computer screen

cant wait to meet you in person

Personally, I would like to see them face off in a break dancing contest.

Did you go to Harlem? Maybe we can get them to compete in all 4 battles: DJ, hip-hop, lindy *and* tap......he he he

Given how you did not protest your photo manifesting a cross-breed between two of the Village People, I hope you'll forgive me if I don't express the same level of enthusiasm.

I've frequently wondered about what style to play at our outdoor venue, do I keep the tempos up because its an outdoor, festive event? Or keep it down because its concrete? I think I tend to push it. After all, its not as awkward for people to sit a song or two out because there's more to do and see besides dance every song.

I did some out door DJing at the weekend, and I found the concrete surface and the weather conditions to be the biggest influance.
Concrete is nasty on the feet and legs of dancers at all speeds but in partiular the upper and lower ranges.
Sun, heat, cold and wind can all have different affects. At the weekend it as sunny but cold. So the dancers heated up quickly during dancing, but as soon as they stopped they got cold. So I tried to keep a low medium tempo so the dancers could dance every song.
I was the one that froze.

I remember the outdoor party at Philadelphia exchange last spring... it was on a covered barbeque area in a park. The floor was great because it was covered with mud, snow and rain, but it was very cold. They played mostly midtempo lindy and funk... it worked... close position conservin' body heat baby!

Screw the DJ battles, I want a dance off.
To many DJs hide behind their little booths to make up for their lack of dance talent.
I feel another thread coming on.

Maybe a dj battle and dance-off, you trade songs and you each have to dance to every song.
