Hi all,

I've just seen this product advertised for the Macintosh. Sells in the UK for around £200 (equivalent to about $360)

Has anyone used it? Any views?

Just get DJ 1800. Much cheaper.

No mixer though.

Have you used the dj1800 software?

Hi everyone,

Just bumping this to try and get some feedback.

I use a Mac with a large collection of music purchased from the iTunes store and other online music stores.

I have just bought the Hercules DJ Console Mac Edition, which comes with Native Instruments' Traktor DJ Studio software -

But reading this forum, DJ1800 seems to be the favourite software.

My questions are:

Is DJ1800 definitely better than Traktor DJ Studio?

If so, why?

If I switch to DJ1800, which external hardware mixer is best, and can I use the Hercules DJ console?

One of the reasons we haven't started using Traktor in earnest is that each time you start it up, you have to load all the songs into it's own library from Itunes (which can take alot of time). In other words, no drag and drop ability and it doesn't use the itunes library that already exists.

From what I can see, DJ1800 allows this function, but I'm still figuring it out.

We're comparing right now, trying to find the right fit for our needs.

You can drag and drop with dj1800. You can set it up to use the itunes library, it's own library, or you can just drag and drop. Traktor has more advanced features though.

Thanks for that. That was my impression too.

Do you know if you can use DJ1800 with the Hercules DJ Console?

Another reason that I have not switched over to Traktor is the fact that your music has to be in mp3 format.

The most current version takes AAC files. I was trying it out on my PC at the weekend. I don't think I'll buy it thought.
