Native Instrument Audio 2 sound card now works Iphone/Ipad
The new version of Native Instrument Audio 2 sound card (called now TRAKTOR Audio 2) now works with Iphone/Ipad.
Examples of setup:
http://www.native-instruments.com/en/pr ... -examples/
You can pre-listen a track without loosing stereo (like when using a split cable).
You have to use Native Instrument Iphone/Ipad DJ app called TRAKTOR DJ.
With this new version this sound card can be used with Windows, OS X (Mac) and iOS (Iphone/Ipad).
You can also use it when not DJing to listen high quality tracks (up to 44.1 kHz / 24 bit that is a little more than audio CD) : see the first setup in the setup examples above.

Wasn't the previous version already called Traktor Audio 2? I believe this one is the mk2.

The one I own (at least 5 years old) is called "Audio 2 DJ".Surreal wrote:Wasn't the previous version already called Traktor Audio 2?
According to (http://tapeop.com/reviews/gear/83/trakt ... interface/)
"Traktor Audio 2 is the same box as Audio 2 DJ and has the same specs."
it has been renamed to "Traktor Audio 2" a few years later
Yes and this is important because the mk2 is the one Iphone/Ipad compatibility !Surreal wrote:Wasn't the previous version already called Traktor Audio 2? I believe this one is the mk2.
Note that the mk2 doesn't have the same spec, at least:
now mini-jack (3,5 mm) instead of standard jack (1/4'')
44.1 kHz / 48 kHz instead of 96 kHz
smaller form factor
explicit labeling of the two output (main and monitor instead of channel A channel B)
external power possible (advised when used with Iphone/Ipad)

I wish they had kept the 1/4" jacks. Much better mechanical contact, and using an adapter for 1/8" is still robust whereas the other way is fussy.

I used the prior version for several years and really enjoyed it... but it appears that the new version did not fix the problem that it works only with USB2 ports, not USB3 ports (see http://www.native-instruments.com/en/pr ... fications/). Many modern laptops only have USB3 ports. Until they fix the issue, I would stay away.

Can that be addressed via software/drivers? or is it a hardware thing?

Native Instruments claims its a hardware problem with Intel's chips that support the USB3 protocol. Its been ongoing for over 18 months (and the NI bulletin boards are full of complaints), so I suspect that if the problem was solvable in software on NI's current hardware, it would have been solved by now.Surreal wrote:Can that be addressed via software/drivers? or is it a hardware thing?
