Music library management software

Any recommendations for music library management software?

I'm afraid to admit, but I'm a PC person and on my last laptop iTunes just couldn't deal with my library. And I don't even think that I have that much music, but any search and it would lag. I now have a brand new laptop and consider to start over.

Can anyone recommend a good (and resource efficient) music manager?

Are there any users of MusicBee, MediaMonkey or Amarok out there?

Most of the PC DJs I know use
MediaMonkey or JRiver Media Center.

Another vote for JRiver Media Center from me (or Media Jukebox, their free version).

PC DJ here. I use MediaMonkey for organizing. I also use it as my "cueing" player when I'm DJing (out my primary sound card, to my headphones).

When I'm DJing, I drag tracks from MediaMonkey to WinAmp and let WinAmp play out my 2nd sound card to the room.

JRiver for me. I tried Media Monkey, but it just didn't seem to agree with me.

Four months later and I was just about to download MediaMonkey when I found Foobar2000 and now I'm not so sure. Any recommendations?

From a quick glance, it looks like Foobar2000 is specialized at being a player? (Like Winamp...)

I really would say that MediaMonkey does a great job being a catalog. It's a relational database user interface that happens to have a play button on it.

That trait is also why I don't use MediaMonkey for my feed to the room. I like using a proper player for that, where I have more tools about how the playback happens.
