Windows 7 problem with mp3's

#1 Post by wspeid » Mon Dec 07, 2009 10:18 am

I upgraded to Windows 7 and found inconsistancies playing mp3's.

Most play fine in JRiver Media Center, Windows Media Player, Itunes & Quicktime. However, some files randomly play silence in JRiver and Windows Media players (but still play perfectly in Itunes and Quicktime). So far, most problem files seem to have bit rates of 320, but other files with the same bit rates play fine. My Fats Waller recordings seem to be the hardest hit.

Audacity opens and plays the files and lets me resave them, but the problem still persists.

Anybody else encountering anything like this?

Problem is with my Turtle Beach AudioAdvantage SRM soundcard. If I remove that, things work properly.

I've had issues before due to the recordings being at different sampling rates. Jriver has the ability to output different sample rates (DSP studio >> output format... at the bottom) which should fix that problem.
