Performance Track issues. DC Cherry Blossoms need your Help!

#1 Post by Megatron » Mon Aug 24, 2009 8:51 am

Hi all,

After the dress rehearsal of our cabaret routine, we realized that our track sounded a bit tinny in a larger room. We'll probably run it through the DeCrackle app that I found in another thread (unless someone knows of less expensive and/or better software for that purpose), but we'd also like to adjust the equalization of the track to enhance the bass line.

We could do this by asking Mike very, very nicely to turn up the bass for our performance at ILHC, but would rather adjust the track itself so we know how it will sound for this and future performances.

Between the 7 of us and a couple of friends who have offered help, we have both PCs and macs available, but no good leads on software. Any guidance would be appreciated, and the sooner the better.

TIA,
Meg ( & by extension: Ann, Aba, Sandy, Tracy, Crista, & Kate)

Have you tried Audacity? It's free, and should allow you to do everything you need.

Don't forget to test your results on good systems at high volumes well before the event. It's far too easy to overdo things when having fun with audio tools....

The simplest way to adjust the EQ is to do this on playback when you play it with something like iTunes. You can usually create individual EQ setting for songs, so they only apply to that song.

If you want to adjust the sound permanently, then you have to edit it and save the result. Personally I use Amadeus Pro on a Mac, which I like a lot -
