This is for all you Macbook users out there...

For the last year, I've been using a little freeware program called DJay to do most of my spinning here in the bay area. It was developed by 3 German university kids as one of their CS projects, and works remarkably well.

They designed it to function like a battle-style DJ deck (dual turntables, crossfader, independent volumes), and designed all sorts of nice little features into it like a BPM counter, multiple audio outputs (for precueing), and realtime pitch and tempo control (for slowing down those great tracks a notch for the newbies...or speeding up Wade in the Water ;) ).

Anyway, it looks like they've commercialized it and beefed it up some more. There's always feature bloat risk, of course, but I recommend checking it out!

$50

I've used 'DJay' for the Mac a few times now, and I love it :). It's pretty stable, and integrates well with iTunes including custom playlists. I can also preview using my Turtle Beach USB card.

If you're a Mac user looking for some good DJ software, it's well worth investigating.
