ARTICLE WITH PHOTO ABOUT RCA 44 RIBBON MICROPHONE USED FOR YEARS IN RADIO & TV BROADCASTS, RECORDING STUDIOS, ETC. FROM PROJECT RECORDING & SOUND TECHNIQUES EQ MAGAZINE, OCTOBER 1993 See added description below.

PLEASE NOTE AS INDICATED BELOW: WE ACCEPT ONLY PAYPAL PAYMENTS, and

FOR THIS ITEM, WE SELL AND SHIP ONLY WITHIN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND CANADA.

DESCRIPTION: This is a clear BW copy of a very fine article in a series called MICROphile. It contains a handsome closeup photograph of the RCA-44-BX ribbon mike just about life size, and an interesting discussion on the model's history and technical specs.

OTR radio fans will be interested in this, but much of the article (reflecting the magazine's area of sound recording rather than broadcasting) talks about late 20th century uses, such as "projects ranging from Count Basie's recordings for Roulette Records to recent releases from Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson".

The writer relies on collector Bruce Swedien for the information. The handsome microphone photo (sans any call letters or record label ID - just the old RCA circle with the lightning bolt which was part of the mike itself) was by Ed Colver, and reference is made to an overhaul shop in central New Jersey run by one Clarence Kane who "did them for RCA originally, and continues to do fine work today". Today being circa 1993.
Will big bands ever come back?
