In my experience, 95% of buffer underun problems come from the source CD. Recording onto the hard drive and then using the hard drive as the source rarely (if ever) has caused a buffer underrun. Three reasons: 1) the source CD drive is often on the same IIDE line as the burner drive, causing "traffic jams," whereas the hard drive is usually on a different IIDE router than the burner; 2) source CDs are scratched far more often than brand, spankin-new CD-Rs fresh out of the box; and 3) the software usually simply does not go above the maximum burn speed for your drive.GemZombie wrote:I meant to say that if you're copying from a CD that is having problems reading, and writing to a CD that is burning too fast... underrun is inevitable.
It is unclear to me whether the burning problems are from copying CD's or creating music CD's from another location which wouldn't have a bottleneck.
