I realize this specific event aleady happened, but for anyone else reading this thread in the future, I'd like to recommend checking out the Mackie Onyx 1640 with the firewire output. Granted, it was expensive, but we saved a bit getting a slightly used one on eBay and it works very well as our main live band mixer.

The mics are primarily Shure SM57's and 58's with a good vocal condensor mic. The learning curve wasn't too bad.

The board outputs all 16 channels independantly to my laptop using their provided software. You can do all your equalizing, mixing and final filtering and the output's pretty darn good.
