DJs needed for Va Beach's Boardwalk Boogie II

#1 Post by lindylindsay » Sat Jul 17, 2004 6:53 am

Boardwalk Boogie II

Get your suntan lotion and boogie board ready for Virginia Beach's second lindy exchange, Sept. 24-26, and join the friendly locals who know the spots to swim and swing. We'll dance by the boardwalk, with the Atlantic Ocean lapping to the live bands, and then lindy in the A/C until the wee hours. This year's exchange also lands on the fabulous Neptune Festival, which includes the North American Sand Sculpting Championship and other festivities. We sold out last year, and we'll do it again. Registration will open July 22. More information on bands and dance sites to come! Check www.swingvirginia.com/boogie for updates.

DJs needed throughout the weekend!
We will comp you for the exchange registration price and find comfy housing for you.

This event has horrid scheduling. Last year it was the Harlem Jazz Festival, this year it's during ULHS.

I know, it is terrible. Unfortunately it was the only feasible weekend for us. It will work out very well though, because it coincides with the Neptune Festival, which is the city's celebration that all of the tourists are gone  So there are lots of free festivities that the city puts on!

It is also the same weekend as St. Louis Blues Exchange 3.

However, I don't think that is horrible, I think they will do just fine. The scene is big enough for multiple events on the same weekends, assuming they are enough distance away from each other.

Virginia Beach is 1,307 miles from Minneapolis and it is 928 from St. Louis. An event does not have to have every dancer and every DJ, it just has to have enough enthusiastic ones.

It is not like the other events are in DC or North Carolina.

Event scheduling is a tricky thing. You have to plan way out and you don't always know what everybody else is doing. Besides, there are so many events these days, competing with somebody is almost inevitable.

Yes, there's just not enough weekends in the year to spread all the events out. Especially in the fall. But people are usually loyal to their regional dance scenes. It worked out fine having harlem and Va Beach hosting events the same weekend last year.
