Kevin got it. The Bonebreak Syncopators. They played in Seattle as well but I can't remember if you were around for that.djstarr wrote:lol - I was going to tell you I wasn't there the night she played New Orleans, but I remember now.... maybe --- was it the Feetwarmers? I know it was a band that played at K.C.'s Binge 2003 - right?
funny. that was our best balboa ever doll.
roger that. that's why I have you guys watching my back -- i went to the syncopater's here in Seattle but for some reason the vibes didn't make a big impression on me - whereas they defined Ham's group for me last Sunday.
It's too bad the regular piano player, Bob Hammer, has a conflicting gig on Sundays. He was on fire tonight at the New Orleans ---- dang!

I was talking to Ham about his music awhile ago and I remember him saying something along the lines of, "I do fast and I do slow." Which is exactly how I like it. The stuff in the middle is the stuff that I'm enjoying the least lately. Since I've been dancing to alot of live Trad Jazz recently I'm noticing that the majority of bands with similar stlyes play sets which fit into the either really smoking hot or way slow categories. I LOVE IT!Toon Town Dave wrote: Ham's music was awesome. Walking up to the Century and hearing the music outside felt like various descriptions of the Savoy. My only suggestion would be to play a little more mid-tempo stuff when the room is that crowded.
I also liked Travis's set on Saturday night afterhours. While 97% of the exchange was dancing to Solomon's group I had lots of room in the back to dance with some of my favorite follows in the back. Everytime I went out to check out Solomon's band I felt compelled to escape to the back room as fast as possible!
And yeah, the main reaon I never went to the Friday dance was I heard Kevin B's band when he was in Vancouver. Someone's gotta tell that guy that people don't want every single song to be 15 minutes long!
I think he was. Regardless I don't thingk we'll see them playing next years exchange.Soma-Guy wrote: And yeah, the main reaon I never went to the Friday dance was I heard Kevin B's band when he was in Vancouver.
