Hey all!

DCLX registration opened yesterday at www.dclx.org! Registration is only $55. This year, DCLX WILL sell out. Pre-registration will gaurantee your entrance into all the dances, which otherwise may be closed to walk-ins. You can also pre-purchase a t-shirt for $10.

Main DJs so far include:
Jerry Almonte, Alex Fajkowski, Mike Faltesek, Tricia Iveson, Mike Marcotte, Andy Reid, Matt Smiley, and Rayned Wiles. We're still waiting to hear from a few out-of-towners that are waiting on plane tickets....

We'd love to have you all there to dance and generally cause a wild ruckus.

Band/Dance line-up:
Thursday night
dance to our fabulous DJs at the Jam Cellar (PSDC or Vienna Tap Room)! ($7 at the door or $5 for PSDC members. Cost not included in pre-registration.)

Friday night dance in the fabulous ballroom of the Ft Myer military base to The Boilermaker Jazz Band from Pittsburgh! www.boilermakerjazzband.com. Head next door for a break and have some food and drinks while you bowl a game or two, then come back for more dancing! After hours, it's a late night dance at the Virginia Ballroom for dancing until 5 am!

Saturday afternoon we dance in the sunshine at the National Zoo Bring your own picnic and dance with the pandas!

Saturday night it's The Brooks Tegler Big Band at the newly renovated Glen Echo Spanish Ballroom, then late night dancing all night long at Chevy Chase Ballroom!

Sunday afternoon we're at Dupont Circle for the third year in a row... dancing in the gorgeous DC spring sunshine in the middle of one of the trendiest parts of downtown Washington. This dance is historically a DCLX favorite. Even the cops got into it last year.

Sunday night we're at the Bumper Car pavilion at Glen Echo with Blue Sky Five, our hometown band, and then more dancing til you drop at our late night DJ dance at K2!

You can also join in the discussion at swingoutdc.

Registration for DCLX is filling up fast. Registration has been open
for only two weeks, and we are filling up faster than expected (which
is great for us, but not for your ;)). Just a reminder to register
soon at www.dclx.org, or to send in your payment to guarantee your spot
if you haven't already done so. Paypal is now up and running for your
convenience.

Pre-registration is only $55, and gaurantees you admission into ALL
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday dances. Remember, our late night venues
are smaller this year, and are going to sell out in pre-registration.
You'll also be put on our guest list for the Fort Myer military base
dance with the fabulous Boilermakers from Pittsburgh. At the security
gate, this means you'll have less hassle getting in!

More surprises are in the works! So register now to be a part of all
of the fun!

Hey who's all going? I forgot if we started up a travel advisory thread so I'd thought I'd post here.

I'm doing my first stint as a DJ on the east coast this weekend - I'm very excited and the DCLX crew has done a great job of giving all the DJs multiple slots across the weekend.

Travis, Kirk and I will all be in DC --- I'd love to meet as many folks as possible who post on the board; I know several of you on here are also DJ'ing - looking forward to hearing/seeing everybody in person.

And is there any CD trips going on? I'll have a car so I'd be interested in going to some of the local hot record stores

I'm especially excited to hear both the Boilermakers and Brooks Tegler - I've heard they are both great bands.

See some of you soon!

I had a great time at this, my first exchange in ~3 years. Great meeting Brenda & Mike for the first time too, I dug both of your sets.

Brenda, thanks for that Bechet recommendation, I bought it today on Amazon.

Also, I thought Rayned was supposed to be DJing at DCLX? What happened to him, he wasn't around all weekend?

Thanks Ryan! It was great meeting you and everyone else on the board - also getting a chance to dance with y'all - all the DJs gave me really great dances this weekend!

And I'm bummed I missed the brass band; hopefully I'll get to see some video of it somewhere - Mikey, let us know where it gets posted pretty please - it's an awesome story.

Yes, the Brass band was cool, but the whole event kicked arse. It was nice meeting you Brenda. I think that I did somewhat get to meet Ryan Swifty. This guy asked Gretchen (Conn. girl) to dance and she said: "are you serious?" I was dying of laughter because the song was kinda fast, but Ryan answered: "I'll dance slow to it" or something like that. So, I watched him work his magic on the dance floor and it was pretty good.

Rayned was a no show, I called his sorry arse, but he did not pick up. Perhaps, he was resting at home from traveling too much. I thought he was going to be there, but that might have been a last minute decision. Perhaps, Rayned will explain why he wasn't there. After all, I did miss the first Soflex myself on the last minute even when I was a scheduled DJ. Sh*t happens and people can change their mind.

Hahaha, if that was the dance I'm thinking of (Saturday night towards the end of the Glen Echo dance) I totally head-butted Gretchen on our first swingout and it was all downhill from there. Man, that dance was fun and yet completely awful. Gretchen's rad, I'm glad I didn't kill her.

You should have said hello - next time make sure you do.

Yep, I thought that I saw something happened like a head-butt, but I wasn't sure. Still, I was dying laughing with the way she answered you. You dressed up like a westie that night and I had no idea you were a lindyhopper. I had to watch you dance a little and it was fun watching the expression on your face while dancing with her. I must admit that you totally kept your cool and tried to make it work. It looked pretty good, but I couldn't tell you how it felt to her. I didn't say hi because I am shy. I don't normally go up to people that I don't know. I think that I heard someone called your name and the name sounded familiar. Anyway, next time I'll make to introduce myself.

PS Yeah, Gretchen is a cool gal with pretty eyes.

Is anyone going back for the '05 edition?
