Competition & Show and Solo Tracks at Camp Jitterbug

We wanted to give you an update on how the extra tracks will work at Camp Jitterbug...we are VERY excited about these options at the camp. If you intend on attending any of these track classes, please read below to get an idea on how it will work.

You can view the workshop schedule here http://campjitterbug.com/files/CJ2009Wo ... hedule.pdf

COMPETITION AND SHOW TRACK
This track will be focused and competing and performing with a partner for advanced dancers. We have selected three of the instructor couples that we feel are strongest in this genre: Max & Annie, Nick & Carla and Zacke & Frida. We are limiting this track to Advanced, Advanced Plus and Masters level only. This will also be partners only. Because there is limited space, it will be first come, first served. Just show up at the class WITH your partner, there are no sign ups. You do not need to take every class in the track, you can pick and choose which class/es you want to take, just show up!

SOLO TRACK
This track will be focused on solo jazz and charleston with three of our top solo dancers: Frida, Zacke & Skye. This track is limited to Intermediate, Advanced, Advanced Plus and Masters levels only. This will also be space permitting, first come, first served so get there early. Again, you do not need to take every class in the track, you can pick and choose which class/es you want to take, just show up!

Beginners...sorry, but these classes will be too high of a level for you at this point. The material in your track builds on itself, so it is important that you don't miss any of the classes in your track. Your track will be very special this year, since we will be using a coaching system. You will be getting a lot of focused instruction to help you get the most out of the camp. We are very excited about this new format and we think you will have a great experience!

Camp Jitterbug Registration has re-opened

Hello everyone,
So, in order to allow some more folks to register and to keep class sizes down, we have decided to add an extra venue to Camp Jitterbug.
Now the Comp & Show and Solo tracks will be split into two levels (one for Intermediate and Advanced and the other for Advanced Plus
and Masters). Due to the anticipated popularity of these track options, we want to make sure everyone gets a chance to participate.

We are re-opening registration at this point, but we will only be allowing a limited number of extra registrants into the camp. There has
been a high demand this year and we are trying to accommodate all of you who have been waiting patiently on wait lists so please sign up
as soon as possible to get into the camp. IF YOU ARE ON A WAIT LIST, PLEASE EMAIL TONYA ASAP AT
TONYA@CAMPJITTERBUG.COM TO BE MOVED INTO THE CAMP. IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID FOR THE CAMP OR MADE
ARRANGEMENTS, YOUR SPOT WILL BE GIVEN TO SOMEONE ELSE. We are also trying to keep the lead follow ratio balanced...since
we have closed some of the tracks for follows, we have improved the balance. So, we are going to temporarily open up the tracks to
follows as well...however, as soon as the tracks start to look imbalanced again, we will have to close them again.

Thank you for your patience during this...we have had more demand this year at the camp than any other year. We are so excited about
the diverse turnout of dancers from all around the world so far attending the camp. Check out where the campers are traveling from this
year!

Be sure to check out the revised Workshop Schedule (a few more incredible teachers have been added to the line-up as a result):

Welcome Campers,

We are only one week away from the Camp Jitterbug 10th Anniversary & Jump Session Show! We have included many updates and frequently asked questions for you to look over below. Remember, more details are available at campjitterbug.com.

WORKSHOPS
WHEN AND WHERE DO I CHECK IN FOR THE CAMP?
It is important that you check in to the camp so you can get all of the info you need: Wristbands (this gets you into all of the events), maps, schedules, etc. Check in is at the camp headquarters, Knights of Columbus at 722 E Union St on Thursday, May 28th from 7pm-9pm. Please visit http://campjitterbug.com/danceevents for all of the evening event times and locations.

WHERE ARE ALL OF THE VENUES LOCATED?
All of the venue locations are listed here http://campjitterbug.com/locations

DROP INS
SIGNING UP FOR THE FULL CAMP AT THE DOOR
We will be allowing sign ups at the door for certain tracks. It will be space permitting and lead/follow balance permitting. There are always last minute cancellations, so show up at registration to see how it looks and we will do our best to fit you in.
SIGNING UP FOR INDIVIDUAL CLASSES
We have had many of you ask about Drop Ins to individual classes at the camp. We will allow drop ins only if there is room in the class and it doesn’t affect the lead follow balance in the class. Drop ins are $20 per class. Audition only tracks still require an audition if you plan on dropping in…see the Auditions section for more info.

WHO IS TEACHING AT CAMP JITTERBUG?
We have an incredible line-up of instructors this year…check out the line-up (along with a few new additions) here http://campjitterbug.com/instructors

DANCE SHOES REQUIRED!!
For the Chamber and Oddfellow venues, dance shoes are required. If you wear street shoes to the class, you will have to purchase moleskin ($1) which we will have available to put on the bottom of your shoes to avoid damage to the floor.

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
The workshop schedule is posted online at http://campjitterbug.com/files/CJ09WorkshopREVISED.pdf
You will receive a workshop schedule in your packet when you check in.

COMPETITION/SHOW AND SOLO TRACK OPTIONS
We have added two specialized tracks during the camp. On Saturday, we will feature a Comp & Show track and Sunday will feature a Solo Track. There are two Comp/Show and Solo tracks…one for Intermediate & Advanced and the other for Advanced Plus & Masters. You may only attend the track that matches your level. You do NOT need to register for these tracks…it is first come first served until the venue reaches capacity. You do not need to take all of the classes in the track; you can pick and choose during the day. Partner is required for the Comp & Show track.

AUDITIONS for Advanced Plus and Masters Tracks
If you are currently registered in the Advanced Plus or Masters Tracks, you must go through the audition process. The check-in begins Saturday morning at 9:45am at the Knights of Columbus and the auditions will start promptly at 10am. Full weekend pass holders will receive audition numbers in your registrations packets.

For anyone else who is not a full weekend pass holder and plan to "drop-in" classes, you must still go through the audition process to qualify to drop-in to any Advanced Plus and/or Master's Track. If you qualify, you will be given a special "permission" slip to allow you take these track classes as long as space is available. First priority in these track classes goes to full weekend pass holders. Please see Sheri Yau at 9:30am at the Knights of Columbus to register for this audition process.

In addition, if you are currently in the Advanced track and would like to try-out for Advanced Plus, you will also need to check-in with Sheri Yau Saturday at 9:30am at the Knights of Columbus to register for the audition process.

WHAT IS YOUR VIDEO TAPING POLICY DURING WORKSHOPS?
We do not allow videotaping during the workshops. You are more than welcome to videotape in between classes.

EVENING DANCES

CAN I ATTEND THE DANCES IF I AM NOT A CAMPER?
Yes, you can pay for the dances at the door if you are not a camper. We do not offer dancers only passes for the entire weekend due to space constraints. We always prioritize the campers, so drop ins are space permitting. We don’t foresee a problem getting into the evening dances, but late night dances will most likely reach capacity. Evening dance info is listed here http://campjitterbug.com/danceevents

WHO ARE THE BANDS AND DJ’S THIS YEAR?
We are so proud of our line-up this year…we truly got the best of the Northwest. Check out the line-up here http://campjitterbug.com/music

COMPETITIONS
Currently the Jack and Jill competition is closed and there is waiting list for both leads and follows. The Lindy Hop Couples contest is also closed, but please register online if you are interested in being on the waitlist as a few more spots may become available. The Charleston Challenge is still open and taking online registrations until Sunday, May 24th!

Jack and Jill and Lindy Hop Couples competitors need to check-in the night of the pre-lims to receive their numbers and to sign waivers. The check-in process will begin one hour before the scheduled competition time. The cut off for check-in will be 1/2 hour before the scheduled competition time. After that time, any contestants who have not picked up their numbers will be removed from the list. Then those who have registered on the wait list and are present at the registration table will be added as space allows.

WHAT IS YOUR VIDEOTAPING POLICY AT THE EVENING DANCES?
We encourage people to videotape during the evening dances and competitions.

JUMP SESSION SHOW

HOW DO I GET MY JUMP SESSION SHOW TICKET/S THAT I PURCHASED?
If you are a camper, your JS show ticket/s will be in your packet. DO NOT lose your ticket! This is a theater ticket and it is not replaceable if you lose it.
If you are NOT a camper, your JS show ticket will be waiting for you at will call under the name it was purchased under. The ticket booth will open at 6pm, doors open at 7pm, show starts at 7:30pm.
All of the Jump Session info is listed here http://campjitterbug.com/jumpsession

CAN I SHOW UP AT THE DOOR TO BUY A JS SHOW TICKET?
We will have JS show tickets available at the ticket booth before the show UNLESS we are sold out. If we are sold out, we will wait until right before show time and if seats open up, we will sell the tickets at that time.

WHO IS PERFORMING IN THE JUMP SESSION SHOW?
This years show has our most incredible line-up yet. The show is a tribute to the legends of Jazz dance with a special dedication to Frankie Manning. Check out the line-up of performers this year http://campjitterbug.com/talent

WHAT IS YOUR VIDEOTAPING DURING THE JUMP SESSION SHOW?
We do not allow videotaping during the JS show. This will be STRICTLY enforced.

Hello fellow Lindy Hoppers,

I just wanted to thank all of you who supported CJ this year and brought an unbelievable level of energy, passion and enthusiasm to the camp. It was the biggest and best Camp Jitterbug & Jump Session Show yet and was truly unforgettable.

A special thank you to all of our managers, helpers, instructors, performers, bands, dj's, hosts and everyone who contributed to this sizable production. It has become much bigger than just a few people and we couldn't have held such a well organized and positive event without our dedicated team!

Also, thank you to all of the campers and attendees...the CJ teams' hard work pays off when we see you all coming full force and having a great time at the event. We always welcome feedback, so feel free to email Tonya if you have any kudos or suggestions for next year. tonya@campjitterbug.com

We look forward to yet another wonderful Camp Jitterbug and Jump Session Show next year...we are already working hard on next years plans! Many exciting announcements to come, but for now, be sure to mark your calendars!
