MLX6: the fat lotta good exchange: November 23rd to 26th
Sumo quality swinging jazz bands.

1. best swingin jazz bands
2. dj call
3. web site comes alive soon...

This year's Melbourne Lindy Exchange will bring you 3 of Melbourne's
best swingin' jazz bands:
- Sydney's George Washingmachine joins Melbourne's own Julie O'Hara
Quintet at Friday's King Porter Stomp dance
- The JW Swing Orchestra swings you solid at our glamorous Strutter's
Ball on Saturday night
- and Michael McQuaid's Red Hot Rhythmakers finish the weekend on a
hot note at the Flying Home dance on Sunday.

This week we introduce the first band on the program,
George Washingmachine and the Julie O'Hara Quintet

This group recorded 'Paper Moon' in 2004 and 'Midnight Sun' early
this year and loved the experiences so much they have joined up to
serve us swing with a side of the sultry. George is a talented
multi-instrumentalist who can belt out the blues, croon like Frankie,
fiddle like Grappelli and spice it up with a great sense of humour! A
long time member of the "Bonza Vista Social Club", he's up there with
legendary lights such as James Morrison and has supported
international stars such as Sarah Vaughan.

Julie O'Hara is a songwriter and vocalist, and has performed with
many of Melbourne's big bands including the B# Big Band and the
Pearly Shells. She also regularly guests with Chris Tanner's Virus,
the Shuffle Club and The Cat Empire around Melbourne, Julie recently
toured the Scandinavian Jazz Festival and supported Cat Empire's
national tour, Scaddabox in 2005. Her sultry vocals compliment George
like honey on a crumpet. These two stars are supported by some of
Melbourne's best instrumentalists, who love playing for a crowd.
